Nuclear Medicine Technologist II $15,000 Sign On BonusThe University of Maryland Medical System is a 14-hospital system with academic, community and specialty medical services reaching every part of Maryland and beyond. Job DescriptionNuclear Medicine Technologist, $15,000 Sign on Bonus
  • bonus applies to non-umms employeesOverviewUnder general supervision, performs diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures with radioisotope and radiation detection methods.
Key Responsibilities
  • Key Responsibility 1: Executes basic clinical competence in nuclear medicine technology, in all locations across all patient types.
Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals and adjunctive medications to perform patient imaging procedures using nuclear medicine instrumentation. Processes data and enhances digital images using advanced computer technology. Provides images, data analysis, and patient information to the physician for diagnostic interpretation. Selects accurate technical factors and appropriateness on an individual patient basis and demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age of the patient.
  • Actively participates in the Clinical Ladder Program, if implemented, at the individual System hospital/location, meeting and maintaining all Program standards and requirements.
  • Key Responsibility 2: Applies knowledge of nuclear medicine principles and practices, including anatomy and physiology, radiation protection and physics, quality assurance, positioning and patient care skills. Ensures safety and security in the storage and delivery of radiopharmaceuticals. Ads to Joint Commission, State, Federal and departmental regulatory compliance standards.
  • Key Responsibility 3: Documents accurate patient care activity in various electronic health records systems.
  • Key Responsibility 4: Ensures a safe and appropriate work environment. Maintains supplies and inventory in area. Informs appropriate colleague when supplies need to be ordered from outside vendors. Documents and reports related equipment/environmental problems in accordance with policy.
  • Key Responsibility 5: Actively participates in departmental and organizational performance improvement initiatives and efforts to improve workflows, patient experience and quality.
Actively participates in student and employee training and educational activities.

Work Experience Qualifications Education
  • Graduation with a certificate or advanced degree in radiation therapy or nuclear medicine from a program accredited by an agency recognized by the US Department of Education (USDE) or Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Experience
  • 1+ years Licensures/Certifications
  • ed with American Registry Radiologic Technology (ARRT) (N) and/or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (CNMT)
  • Licensed Nuclear Medicine Technologist - State of MD
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification Preferred Education
  • Bachelor of Science Experience
  • 2+ years Licensures/Certifications
  • Approval letter from the State of MD Board to operate a CT/Nuclear Medicine Device for attenuation correction and anatomic localization
  • Licensed Radiographer - State of MD
  • Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board NCT and/or PET
