Cardiac Nuclear Medicine Technologist Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Cardiac Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our cardiology team. The ideal candidate will specialize in cardiac imaging, including myocardial perfusion imaging, and will be responsible for preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals, performing nuclear cardiology procedures, and ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the imaging process. This role requires a deep understanding of nuclear cardiology techniques and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform cardiac nuclear medicine procedures, including myocardial perfusion imaging (stress and rest), MUGA scans, and other relevant cardiac studies. Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals according to cardiac imaging protocols. Operate and maintain nuclear medicine equipment, including gamma cameras and SPECT systems, ensuring accurate calibration and performance. Monitor and assess patients during procedures, ensuring safety and comfort. Process and analyze cardiac images using advanced imaging software. Maintain accurate patient records, including detailed imaging data and procedure notes. Collaborate closely with cardiologists, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely diagnostic results. Follow all radiation safety regulations and institutional protocols to minimize exposure risk. Educate patients about the procedures, addressing any concerns or questions they may have. Participate in quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives within the nuclear medicine department.
Qualifications:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or related field. Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB). Current state licensure as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist. Current BLS certification. Minimum 1 years of experience in cardiac nuclear medicine or nuclear cardiology. Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting nuclear medicine and cardiac imaging equipment. Strong knowledge of myocardial perfusion imaging protocols and cardiac anatomy. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on patient care. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
