Job Description

PRN NUCLEAR MEDICINE TECHNICIAN
needed for busy
NUCLEAR STRESS TEST LAB
in Myrtle Beach to fill in on a PRN basis as needed. Background in
NUCLEAR MEDICINE
required. Must have excellent computer and customer service skills. SCQRSA license is required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Work closely with patients and doctors to support diagnostic and treatment activities while minimizing health risks for patients. Prepares, measures, and administers radiopharmaceuticals, utilizing a variety of equipment and following prescribed procedures. Administers diagnostic doses of radiopharmaceuticals under direction of physician. Follows radiation safety techniques when disposing radioactive materials. The job holder must demonstrate current competencies applicable to job position.
EDUCATION
Graduate from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum two year's experience in clinic setting.
REQUIREMENTS
Requires registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, ARRT and/or certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (CNM).
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of nuclear medicine and stress testing principles and standards. Knowledge of how to use/maintain equipment appropriately. Knowledge of safety, infection control policies and regulations. Knowledge of use of various electronic information systems. Knowledge of Spectrum Dual D-Spect with Open design a plus
SKILLS:
Skill in following appropriate testing procedures. Skill in proper equipment use, preventive maintenance and repair. Skill in appropriate quality control and confidentiality procedures. Skill in using various information systems.
ABILITIES
Ability to exercise independent judgment/decision-making and discretion in reporting/distributing results. Ability to establish/maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families and staff. Ability to organize effectively and work quickly with high level of accuracy. Ability to make basic troubleshooting decisions.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
Performs other duties as assigned
ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS
Working environment is primarily a clinic setting. Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, fumes, hazardous materials, noise.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS
Varied activities include standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, lifting and stooping. Must be able to lift/carry/push 50 pounds. Require eye-hand coordination.
