Job Description

Responsibilities:
Performs diagnosis procedures to assist the physicians, while adhering to radiation safety policies and functioning as a liaison between the patient and physician. Responsible for administering radiopharmaceuticals to patients by I.V. injections, inhalations, or oral administering. Will perform full range of nuclear medicine dynamic, static, SPECT imaging process. Maintains compliance with radiation safety policies and documentation requirements for waste disposal and administration of radiopharmaceuticals. Calculates quantity of radiopharmaceutical activity and volume to be administered during procedures. Explains procedures to patients. Obtains appropriate Consent. Communicates patient's status and information to the appropriate physician. Identifies and ensures quality control measures for imaging and surveying equipment, dosing and radiation safety monitors, and recording results. Verifies scan quality and performs computer image and date processing. Assists in maintaining laboratory inventory and ordering supplies. Assays specimens and prepares standards in scintillation counting systems, performs calibration and records results. Schedules patients for exams. Must follow all HIPAA regulations. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Training and/or experience in techniques of radiation safety, radiopharmaceuticals preparation and computer processing techniques for patient examinations and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are required. Completion of a formal Nuclear Medicine Training Program.
