You will be responsible for the preparation and administration of radiopharmaceuticals, operating advanced imaging equipment (including PET scanners), and ensuring strict adherence to radiation safety and regulatory standards. You will work closely with Radiologists and Cardiologists to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.
Essential Functions Imaging & Therapy :
Perform nuclear medicine procedures following established protocols to ensure high-quality diagnostic images.
Radiopharmaceuticals :
Prepare and administer doses intravenously or orally, adhering to safety protocols and facility policies.
Patient Care:
Assess patient condition, verify identification, screen for contraindications, and provide clear post-procedure instructions.
Equipment Management :
Operate and calibrate gamma cameras and PET scanners; perform routine Quality Control (QC) checks.
Compliance & Safety :
Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of radioactive materials in compliance with NRC and state regulations.
Documentation :
Maintain accurate records of isotope usage and patient interactions within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
Collaboration :
Work with department leadership and physicians to update protocols and optimize scanner performance.
Qualifications Experience :
Required:
0-2 years of experience performing nuclear medicine procedures in a clinical or hospital setting.
Preferred:
2-4 years of experience in an acute care hospital setting.
Education, Licenses & Certifications:
Required:
Current State License as a Radiologic Technologist (as applicable).
Required:
(N)
ARDMS, ARRT
(N), or NMTCB certification.
Required:
BCLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
Knowledge & Skills:
Proficiency in radiopharmaceutical preparation and radiation safety. Strong understanding of NRC, state, and federal regulatory requirements. Ability to recognize abnormal scan results and troubleshoot equipment calibration. Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient comfort and safety.
