Sentara Advanced Imaging Center BelleHarbour is hiring a Nuclear Medicine Technologist for Part-time Dayshift! Why Choose Sentara BelleHarbour? Conduct PET/CT imaging for oncology patients, including tumor staging, treatment response monitoring, and metastasis detection using advanced radiopharmaceutical techniques. Perform cardiac nuclear medicine exams such as myocardial perfusion (nuclear stress tests) and MUGA scans to assess blood flow and ventricular function in collaboration with the Cardiac Diagnostic Testing team. Carry out a range of targeted studies—including bone scans, hepatobiliary (HIDA) scans, renal function studies, and thyroid imaging—to diagnose and monitor organ-specific diseases and pathologies. Provide rapid nuclear medicine support to the 24-hour emergency department for urgent cases, such as V/Q lung scans for pulmonary embolism and acute gallbladder or cholecystitis assessments. Friday:
7am - 3:30pm Position Overview The Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs a variety of diagnostic imaging procedures utilizing radiopharmaceuticals and advanced imaging technology under the supervision of a qualified physician. This role ensures accurate imaging, patient safety, and adherence to regulatory and quality standards in the delivery of nuclear medicine services.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare, calculate, and administer radiopharmaceuticals and radioisotopes, ensuring precise dose management and patient safety. Position patients appropriately to capture required anatomy/pathology and operate nuclear medicine imaging and electronic radiology systems. Provide patient and family education about examination procedures, safety precautions, and discharge instructions, ensuring comfort and understanding. Maintain exam room, supplies, and equipment readiness, including proper documentation and compliance with monitoring protocols for radioactive materials. Complete all departmental and regulatory documentation, and adhere to quality control, quality assurance, and all applicable state, federal, and local standards. Demonstrate IV competency and perform venipuncture or IV administration as required for procedures.
