Job Description

SCHEDULE
Full-time; 40 hours per week; Two weeks on; One week off; On-call every third week The staff CRNA (Certified Registered Nurses Anesthetist) utilizes the anesthesia process to provide quality patient care. Must be licensed and certified as a certified registered nurse anesthetist under Iowa law. Certified with DEA, IA Controlled Substance, BLS, ACLS, PALS, & NRP. Previous CRNA experience preferred. Must have the knowledge of medicine CRNA education and training to provide and evaluate anesthesia care. Must possess knowledge of organizational policies, regulations and procedures to administer patient care, medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care in a safe work environment. Must be eligible to provide services under the Medicare and Medicaid programs and in managed care networks and other payer programs as may be required by Myrtue Medical Center. Must respond to emergencies while maintaining professional and calm composure. Administers anesthetic or sedation during medical procedures. Monitors patient before, during and after anesthesia and counteracts adverse reactions or complications. Provides and maintains life support and airway management. Records type and amount of anesthesia, as well as patient condition, throughout procedure. Examines patient, obtains medical history and uses diagnostic tests to determine risk during surgical, obstetrical and other medical procedures. Coordinates administration of anesthetics with physicians during surgery. Ensures processes are carried out in a safe and prudent manner, utilizing commonly accepted techniques. Maintains effective communication and relationships with the Chief Nursing Officer, medical practitioners, medical director and nursing leaders.
