This position requires strong clinical judgment, excellent patient care, knowledge of EMR systems, and the ability to work in a fast-paced urgent care and occupational health environment. Overview The Nurse Practitioner will evaluate, diagnose, treat, and manage patients of all ages, including urgent care, primary care, occupational health, and workers' compensation patients . The ideal candidate must be comfortable treating acute illnesses, minor injuries, work-related injuries, and performing appropriate follow-up care while following company policies, clinical protocols, and applicable state and federal regulations. Duties and Responsibilities Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including medical history, physical examinations, and vital signs review. Evaluate, diagnose, and treat urgent care patients for acute illnesses, minor injuries, infections, and common medical conditions. Evaluate and treat workers' compensation and occupational health patients , including work-related injuries, follow-up visits, modified duty evaluations, return-to-work status, and appropriate documentation. Complete accurate workers' compensation documentation, including work status reports, treatment plans, referrals, and follow-up recommendations. Perform occupational health services, including pre-employment physicals, DOT/non-DOT exams if qualified, drug and alcohol testing review, respirator clearance, and employer-required medical evaluations. Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic testing, including labs, X-rays, EKGs, and other medically necessary studies. Develop and implement appropriate treatment plans based on clinical findings and evidence-based guidelines. Prescribe medications appropriately and in compliance with state and federal regulations. Perform minor procedures within scope of practice, including wound care, suturing, incision and drainage, splinting, injections, and other urgent care procedures. Provide patient education regarding diagnosis, medications, injury care, follow-up instructions, work restrictions, and when to seek emergency care. Accurately and timely document all patient encounters in the EMR/EHR system. Follow HIPAA, OSHA, infection control standards, company policies, clinical protocols, and workers' compensation guidelines. Collaborate with Medical Director, providers, medical assistants, front office staff, management, employers, adjusters, and referral specialists as appropriate. Maintain professional communication with patients, employers, and team members. Support clinic flow and assist with patient care needs in a fast-paced environment. Participate in quality improvement, compliance, and patient safety initiatives. Qualifications Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the State of California. Current national board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner or applicable NP certification. Current DEA license. Current BLS certification Urgent care, occupational health, workers' compensation, emergency medicine, or outpatient clinic experience. Experience treating work-related injuries and completing workers' compensation documentation preferred. Knowledge of EMR/EHR systems required. Knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, infection control, ICD-10, CPT coding, and documentation requirements preferred. Ability to work independently while collaborating with supervising/collaborating physicians and clinical staff. Must be dependable, punctual, professional, and able to follow policies and procedures. Strong communication, organizational, and patient-service skills required. Required Skills Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills. Ability to evaluate and manage urgent care and workers' compensation cases. Excellent bedside manner and patient communication. Accurate and timely EMR documentation. Ability to work well with providers, medical assistants, front office staff, management, employers, and insurance representatives. Strong understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance. Ability to remain calm, professional, and efficient in high-volume situations. Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to support clinic operations.
