PART-TIME / FULL TIME
position for
PSYCHIATRY NURSE PRACTITIONER
in Bakersfield, CA to become a part of our team! You will focus on providing high quality patient care as part of a healthcare team. This is an In-person opportunity. You will have the full ongoing support of our clinical leadership and administrative team so you can focus on what you do best while we manage the rest. You will be assigned one Board Certified Psychiatrist who would supervise you.

Full-time or Contract Responsibilities 1.
Clinical Responsibilities Assessment and Diagnosis:
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including medical and mental health histories, psychosocial assessments, and mental status exams. Diagnose mental health conditions using DSM-5 criteria or other appropriate diagnostic tools. Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to the patient's needs, considering both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions. Collaborate with the patient and, if appropriate, their family or caregivers to establish realistic goals. Prescribe psychotropic medications and monitor for effectiveness and side effects. Adjust medication regimens as needed, ensuring evidence-based practices. Provide psychotherapy, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), or supportive therapy, depending on the PMHNP's training and the patient's needs. Use motivational interviewing or other techniques to enhance patient engagement. 2.
Coordination of Care Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
Work with psychiatrists, primary care providers, therapists, and social workers to ensure holistic patient care. Refer patients to specialists or community resources as necessary.
Case Management:
Assist in coordinating care for complex cases, including referrals to inpatient treatment if required. Monitor patient progress and update treatment plans accordingly. 3. Patient Education Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, medication side effects, and coping strategies. Promote adherence to treatment plans and encourage self-management skills. 4. Administrative Duties Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of all patient interactions and treatment plans. Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and regulatory standards for mental health practice. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance clinic services. 5. Preventive Care and Advocacy Promote mental health awareness and preventive care strategies, such as stress management and early intervention. Advocate for patients to access necessary resources, such as housing, employment assistance, or substance use recovery programs. 6. Continuing Education and Professional Development Stay updated on advancements in psychiatric care through ongoing education and training. Maintain certification and licensure by meeting continuing education requirements. By balancing clinical, administrative, and educational duties, a PMHNP in an outpatient clinic plays a critical role in improving mental health outcomes for patients while fostering a supportive and collaborative care environment.
