Duties Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including patient history, mental status exams, and risk assessments to inform diagnosis and treatment strategies. Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, utilizing psychopharmacology principles to optimize therapeutic outcomes. Develop individualized care plans incorporating therapy, medication management, and lifestyle modifications tailored to each patient's needs. Provide crisis intervention and acute care for patients experiencing mental health emergencies or behavioral crises. Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and primary care providers to coordinate comprehensive treatment approaches. Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or eClinicalWorks, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Educate patients and families on mental health conditions, treatment options, medication administration, and wellness strategies to promote recovery and resilience. Requirements Valid Nurse Practitioner license with certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC or equivalent). Demonstrated experience in behavioral health settings with exposure to diverse populations including children, geriatrics, or individuals with developmental disabilities. Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Athenahealth for documentation and patient management. Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology, medication administration, and clinical research methodologies related to mental health. Experience in crisis triage, acute pain management, and emergency room or inpatient psychiatric care is highly desirable. Familiarity with telehealth platforms for remote patient consultations. Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively while maintaining confidentiality per HIPAA standards.
