Together, the administrative role of Director of Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program and the faculty appointment ( PCN F01612) comprise a full-time position (1.0 FTE / 5 days per week). The salary range listed in this posting represents the total compensation for the combined administrative and faculty responsibilities. Please refer to the corresponding faculty posting for additional details. The Director of the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) program of the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) programs and postgraduate PMHNP Certificate promotes strategic partnerships to increase visibility, engagement, and integration of the PMHNP program and certificate within the College, the University, and the Community. The Director is responsible for leading, administrating, managing financial and human resources, student development, and teaching. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. Required Qualifications Education:
A Doctoral degree in Nursing, current California RN license, and current California PMHNP license are required. Certification in PMHNP required.Experience:
A minimum of (1) year experience in higher education or nursing administration (as program director, department chair, etc.) and one year of full-time teaching experience in Nursing. BRN approved for teaching in a required subject area.Preferred Qualifications Essential Job Duties Key Responsibilities Leadership:
Serves as a member of the university and college community via university committee membership and service. Member of the CGN Executive Leadership Team (Directors/Assistant and Associate Deans). Promotes collegiality via respectful communication to promote a culture of respect, integrity, collaboration, and transparency in the College of Graduate Nursing. Integrates initiatives with other Directors of the DNP program tracks.Key Responsibilities Administration:
Chairs the PMHNP Program meeting and at least one other CGN committee. Develops and oversees a systematic planning process to facilitate and improve the PMHNP program to meet its goals and objectives. Assure quality of the program to meet state, national and professional accreditation standards. Develops SQIP process measuring program and student outcomes aligned with institution learning outcomes and college mission. The SQIP process includes outcomes on course maps, attrition, on-time graduation, completion rates, employer satisfaction, hire rates, national certification pass rates, student satisfaction, and others. Monitors and assesses formative and summative indicators of student and faculty achievement. Works with faculty and staff to analyze data every semester and annually. Reports findings to faculty/staff and student body. Makes recommendations for budget resources, curricular changes and other program revisions to appropriate committees, Assistant Dean of APRN, and the Dean. Develops implements, evaluates and advances educational, scholarly, and public service activities involving PMHNP initiatives in the community Creates, implements, and evaluates the orientation programs for PMHNP students. Assumes clinical oversight of clinical/partnerships in conjunction with the PMHNP clinical coordinator and faculty. Designs, implements, and evaluates recruitment events for the PMHNP program in conjunction with recruitment team. Serves as a member of CGN strategic planning committee and philanthropy committee to secure external funding (grants, foundations, gifts). Participates in grant writing to expand resource as PI or co-PI. Participates or acts as a project investigator for foundation, community, and federal grants.Key Responsibilities Human Resource Management:
Participates in the screening and selection of faculty and staff. Develops programs to retain qualified faculty and staff. Ensures that ongoing faculty and staff development programs are conducted. Orients and mentors' faculty/preceptors and faculty teaching assistants. Participates in the annual review of faculty and staff as appropriate.Key Responsibilities Student Development/Services:
Encourages student involvement in the evaluation and development of the College's academic program. Facilitates the lines of communication between the administration, faculty and students to ensure culture of mutual respect and professionalism. Represents faculty and administrators at student events. Assists with admissions interviews and on-going recruitment efforts for the college. Administers standards for academic performance and progression and standards for student conduct. Advocates the principles of learner-centered educational approaches, and advocates for students to ensure the availability of resources needed to achieve successful student learning and professional development.Key Responsibilities Teaching:
Teaches the didactic and clinical portions of the curriculum, per approved content area. May assist with PMHNP Master's or Doctoral projects. Key Responsibilities Other Responsibilities of the Director for thePMHNP Program:
Assists with the continuous quality improvement plan for the PMHNP Curriculum and conducts a year-end review of all activities. Participates in institutional and college committees. Makes recommendations for on-going faculty development. Represents the College of Graduate Nursing at various meetings involving professional and educational associations, governmental agencies, hospitals and other health care delivery organizations, etc. Participates in professional societies and associations.
