Job Description
Overview Family Medicine of the Rockies is a physician-owned, two-location primary care practice serving the Denver-Aurora and Highlands Ranch communities since 2017. We care for patients ages 4-99 across the full spectrum of family medicine — acute illness, chronic disease management, preventive care, women's health, and minor procedures. We accept Colorado Medicaid (Health First Colorado), UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and most major commercial plans. Our Aurora practice runs on Athena EHR. What You'll Do Manage a panel of patients ages 4 through adult: same-day acute visits, well-child and adult wellness exams, chronic disease management (diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, asthma/COPD, depression/anxiety, thyroid disorders), women's health, and Medicare AWVs Perform in-office procedures within scope: laceration repair, simple excisions, joint injections, IUD insertion/removal (if trained), nail procedures, skin tag removal, cerumen removal, and point-of-care testing Document encounters in Athena EHR within 24 hours; close out claims and respond to billing-related queries within 48 hours Collaborate with Dr. Ferrer on complex cases via direct consultation, curbside, or formal case review Participate in quality initiatives: HEDIS measure compliance, Medicare AWV completion, and Colorado Medicaid quality programs Provide occasional coverage at our Highlands Ranch location (approximately 2-4 days per quarter) What We Need From You Active and unencumbered Colorado APRN license with population focus in Family Medicine (FNP-BC or FNP-C) National certification: AANP (FNP-C) or ANCC (FNP-BC) At least 1 year of post-graduate clinical experience as an NP, preferably in outpatient primary care, urgent care, or family medicine Active or imminently eligible Colorado Provisional or Full Prescriptive Authority (RXN-P or RXN) Active DEA registration (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of start) Current BLS certification; ACLS preferred Comfortable working in Athena EHR or another cloud-based EHR (training provided) Strongly Preferred Bilingual English/Spanish (clinically functional, not requiring interpreter for most encounters) Prior experience with a Medicaid-weighted patient panel Comfort with point-of-care procedures (sutures, joint injections, etc.) Experience with Medicare AWV documentation and HEDIS quality reporting Growth & Ownership Path We believe the clinicians who build a practice should share in its success.
