Job Description
We are seeking motivated Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) students who are looking for a supportive and engaging clinical preceptorship experience. This opportunity provides hands-on exposure to psychiatric evaluation, medication management, diagnosis, treatment planning, and interdisciplinary collaboration across diverse patient populations. Students will have the opportunity to develop clinical skills under the guidance of an experienced PMHNP while gaining practical experience in outpatient psychiatric care. Learning Opportunities Psychiatric evaluations and follow-up assessments Diagnostic formulation and treatment planning Psychopharmacology and medication management Documentation and clinical note writing Patient education and counseling Collaboration with healthcare providers and facility staff Exposure to a variety of psychiatric diagnoses across the lifespan Student Responsibilities Conduct patient interviews and psychiatric assessments under supervision Present cases and treatment recommendations Complete required clinical documentation Demonstrate professionalism and adherence to ethical standards Participate actively in clinical discussions and learning activities Requirements Currently enrolled in an accredited PMHNP program Active RN license in good standing Current malpractice coverage through educational institution (if required) Affiliation agreement in place with educational program (if applicable) Strong communication and professional skills Commitment to patient-centered care and lifelong learning What Students Can Expect Structured orientation to clinical workflow and expectations Direct mentorship from an experienced PMHNP Progressive increase in clinical responsibilities based on competency Constructive feedback and support throughout the rotation Exposure to real-world psychiatric practice and clinical decision-making Application Instructions Interested PMHNP students should submit: Resume/CV School and program information Desired clinical rotation dates Required clinical hours Contact information for clinical coordinator (if applicable) We welcome students who are eager to learn, engage professionally, and develop confidence in psychiatric assessment and medication management.
