Job Summary Specializes in the mental health needs of FIU students and develops appropriate treatment plans adhering to evidence-based guidelines. Conducts initial psychiatric evaluations and provides individual treatment to FIU students with a range of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and other psychiatric disorders. Conducts initial psychiatric evaluations to determine the mental health needs of FIU students and develops appropriate treatment plans adhering to evidence based guidelines. Provides individual treatment to FIU students with a range of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and other psychiatric disorders. Prescribes appropriate medication for FIU students with behavioral health issues and continuity of care by monitoring reactions to the medication and treatment regime. Collaborating with other healthcare professionals, including primary care physicians, psychologists, and social workers, to provide comprehensive coordinated care to college students. Accurately documents all patient care activities in electronic health records in a timely and accurate manner. Maintains current knowledge of psychiatric medications, treatments, and trends in mental health care through continuing education opportunities. Participates in quality improvement activities, such as chart reviews, to ensure the delivery of high-quality mental health care services to college students. Maintains confidentiality and privacy in accordance with applicable laws and regulations complying with all organizational policies and procedures, including those related to safety, infection control, HIPAA, and FERPA. Demonstrates a commitment to multiculturalism and serving underrepresented populations. Assists in developing and implementing procedures relevant to psychiatric services. Performs essential duties in any emergencies such as hurricanes, storms, and/or any other university emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closing with appropriate notification of a department administrator. Minimum Qualifications Master's of Science in Nursing and four (4) years of experience as an APRN.

Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Basic Life Support (BLS) Departmental Requirements Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Florida license (PMHNP) Must obtain Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certification within three (3) months of hire.
