Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a licensed Advanced Psychiatric Practitioner (PA or NP) to join our community-based crisis unit providing short-term, high-impact psychiatric care. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the front line of behavioral health, delivering rapid assessment, stabilization, and treatment for individuals experiencing acute psychiatric and substance use crises.Clinical Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and risk assessments Provide diagnosis, medication management, and brief therapeutic interventions Manage patients requiring crisis stabilization, including those with serious mental illness (e.g., schizophrenia, bipolar disorder) Assess and treat co-occurring substance use disorders, including opioid and alcohol withdrawal Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to support safe stabilization and disposition planningCall Responsibilities:
Light, shared call responsibilities, primarily phone-base typically one weekday per week, with occasional weekend support as needed Shared holiday coverage that is partially reimbursed plus banked vacation hoursLearning & Professional Development Opportunity:

Knowledge of assessment tools, interviewing, and physical examination techniques Ability to formulate diagnosis based on examination and test results; Able to interpret test results, identify deviations from norms, and intervene or make appropriate referrals Ability to assess, plan for, and provide basic nursing skills; knows procedures including developing, implementing and revising plan of care Ability to prescribe certain medications as part of a treatment plan gaining physician approval when needed Ability to document problems and/or needs identified from the treatment plan; competent in completing treatment plans Ability to document treatment in electronic health record systems and to operate standard office equipment.Competencies:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Some minor travel between Gateway sites is required.Physical Demands :
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Employee is frequently required to walk, sit, stand or kneel and occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop. Employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Must have the ability to sit for long periods of time at a computer. Employee frequently uses fine hand/eye coordination, hearing and visual acuity. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are not hazardous or unpleasant condition caused by noise, dust, etc. Employee must be able to travel between Gateway sites.
