Join our growing care team! Caribou Medical Center is now hiring a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Summary / Objective Caribou Medical Center is seeking a compassionate and motivated Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our integrated behavioral health team. In this outpatient role, the PMHNP provides high-quality psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to individuals across the lifespan while playing a key role in expanding access to mental health services in our community. Working within the Social Services Department, this position collaborates closely with clinic providers and interdisciplinary partners to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care. The PMHNP practices in accordance with licensure scope, federal and state regulations, RHC requirements, and CMC policies, while advancing our mission to improve the health and well-being of the communities we serve. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnoses, and ongoing medication management for patients across the lifespan, in alignment with licensure and organizational protocols. Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans in collaboration with patients and interdisciplinary care team members. Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the electronic health record in accordance with RHC, CMS, and organizational standards. Independently manage patient visits, including scheduling navigation, rooming, and visit completion, without assigned clinical support staff. Coordinate care seamlessly with primary care providers, therapists, case managers, and community partners to support integrated care delivery. Clinic Growth and Community Engagement Support clinic growth by maintaining consistent patient volumes and contributing to strategies that expand behavioral health access. Participate in workflow optimization, care delivery improvements, and service expansion initiatives. Contribute to the development of innovative programs and service lines that address behavioral health needs in a rural and underserved population. Serve as a professional ambassador for Caribou Medical Center in community settings, helping build trust, visibility, and strong referral relationships. General Responsibilities Complete all required education, skills training, and competency requirements. Actively participate in departmental and interdepartmental meetings, education, and competency activities, offering constructive input. Follow established policies and procedures while supporting departmental goals and initiatives. Contribute positively to the overall functioning of CMC through teamwork, flexibility, and assistance where needed. Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment. Participate in quality improvement and quality assurance activities, including data collection, as requested. Communicate effectively and professionally with team members and other departments. Complete assigned work accurately and in a timely manner.

Commitment:

Required Qualifications Master's degree or Doctorate in Nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with a psychiatric-mental health focus. Current, unrestricted Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) license in the applicable state. Current national PMHNP certification (ANCC or equivalent). Eligibility to practice independently within state scope-of-practice laws and Rural Health Clinic (RHC) regulations. Current DEA registration and eligible for prescriptive authority for controlled substances. Ability to independently manage patient scheduling, rooming, assessment, treatment, and documentation. Demonstrated knowledge of psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, medication management, and evidence-based treatment modalities. Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and clinical documentation standards. Ability to maintain compliance with CMS, RHC, and organizational policies and regulations. Commitment to ethical practice, patient-centered care, and underserved or rural populations. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in a Rural Health Clinic (RHC), community mental health center, or integrated behavioral health setting. Experience working within or collaborating closely with social services, case management, or behavioral health teams. Demonstrated involvement in clinic growth initiatives, service development, or program expansion. Experience conducting community outreach, education, or partnership development. Familiarity with RHC billing, productivity expectations, and CMS documentation requirements. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills. Ability to work independently while contributing to interdisciplinary team goals. Bilingual or culturally competent experience serving diverse populations (preferred but not required).
