Job Description

To improve the quality, efficiency, and continuity of diabetes and endocrine care across inpatient and outpatient settings—particularly for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) patients—through the addition of a dedicated Nurse Practitioner (NP).
Job Description:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
InpatientManage inpatient diabetes consults (new and follow-up), prioritizing DFCI patientsAssist with complex glycemic management (e.g., steroids, insulin initiation)Evaluate and manage inpatient hypercalcemia consults, including workup coordination, IV bisphosphonate initiation, and triage of underlying etiologyCollaborate closely with endocrinology attending and oncology teamsSupport discharge planning (education, insulin teaching, CGM when appropriate)Facilitate transitions to outpatient endocrine careOutpatientProvide follow-up for recently discharged patients, including those treated for hypercalcemiaManage diabetes (type 1, type 2, steroid-induced)Support care for endocrine conditions (thyroid, adrenal, pituitary, immunotherapy-related)Improve access by reducing new patient and follow-up wait timesTitrate medications and monitor CGM data
QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
REQUIREDRegistered Nurse with Massachusetts licensure and certification to practice in an expanded role.

Physician Assistant licensure. Massachusetts/Federal narcotic license.

Three years of clinical experience in an inpatient or outpatient setting.

Ability to gather and interpret data for the diagnosis and management of medical conditions.

Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Ability to work independently with physician and administrative input as necessary.

WORKING CONDITIONSBusy medical practice environment. Flexibility in hours to meet the demands of the practice.

Some exposure to patients and related hazards when performing procedures (Laboratory, EKG, etc.).Mount Auburn Hospital employees must be able to readily adjust to change and handle a rapid-paced environment and the stresses associated with that, while continuing to provide high-quality, efficient service.

Pay Range:
$113,776.00 USD - $150,000.00 USDThe pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
