Adult Patients Position Overview:
Henry Ford Health System is seeking a contingent Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Neurosurgery team at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital. This role focuses on the inpatient management of neurosurgical patients, including daily rounding, patient assessments, consultations, care coordination, and discharge planning in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. The APP will serve as a first-line provider working closely with neurosurgeons, physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams to support safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care for complex neurosurgical patients. This contingent position includes some weekend coverage, no call responsibilities, and offers the opportunity to practice within a dynamic inpatient neurosurgical setting at a leading health system. Qualifications:
At least 1 year of neurosurgical experience as an APP required NP or PA graduate from an accredited program Current (or in-process) Michigan licensure National certification (ANCC, AANP, or NCCPA) BLS required; ACLS required (or obtained after hire)
Credentials:
Education & Training Physician Assistant (PA): Completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) Nurse Practitioner (NP): Completion of a Nurse Practitioner program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) Licensure Current licensure as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in the State of Michigan, or in the process of applying (proof of application required).
Certification PA:
Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
NP:
National certification by a certification body recognized by the State of Michigan (e.g., ANCC, AANP) Required Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS) - required Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - required (may be obtained after hire) DEA /
Controlled Substance Licensure PA:
DEA and Michigan Controlled Substance License (CSL) required through credentialing
NP:
