The NP works collaboratively with physicians, nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized treatment plans, improve patient outcomes, and promote quality of life while ensuring safe and effective pain management practices. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Clinical Care Perform comprehensive patient evaluations, including medical histories, physical examinations, and pain assessments. Diagnose and manage acute and chronic pain conditions. Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans. Order, interpret, and review diagnostic tests, laboratory studies, and imaging results. Prescribe medications in accordance with state regulations and clinic protocols. Monitor patients receiving opioid and non-opioid therapies for efficacy, safety, and compliance. Conduct follow-up visits to evaluate treatment effectiveness and adjust care plans as needed. Provide pre-procedure and post-procedure evaluations for pain management interventions. Patient Education Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, medication use, potential side effects, and self-management strategies. Counsel patients on lifestyle modifications, exercise programs, and non-pharmacologic pain management techniques. Promote adherence to treatment plans and clinic policies. Care Coordination Collaborate with physicians, physical therapists, psychologists, primary care providers, and other specialists. Coordinate referrals and consultations as appropriate. Participate in multidisciplinary case reviews and treatment planning. Documentation and Compliance Maintain accurate, timely, and complete electronic medical records (EMR). Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to controlled substances and pain management practices. Complete required documentation for prescriptions, treatment plans, prior authorizations, and disability forms. Adhere to clinic policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. Quality Improvement Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives. Assist with development and implementation of evidence-based pain management protocols. Stay current with advances in pain management and clinical practice guidelines. QualificationsEducation Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited program. Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Licensure and Certification Current Nurse Practitioner license in the state of practice. National certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP), or related specialty. Current DEA registration and prescriptive authority. Current BLS certification; ACLS preferred. Experience Minimum of 1-2 years of Nurse Practitioner experience preferred. Experience in pain management, orthopedics, physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurology, anesthesia, or primary care preferred. Knowledge of chronic pain treatment modalities and controlled substance management. Required Skills Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills. Knowledge of pain management therapies and prescribing guidelines. Excellent communication and patient counseling abilities. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, and sit for extended periods. Ability to perform physical assessments and procedures. Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally.
