Clinic Director (CD)
Position Purposes:
The purpose of the Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) specializing in HIV Care and Prevention is to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care to individuals living with HIV and those at risk of HIV infection. This role involves the management of HIV treatment, including prescribing antiretroviral therapy (ART), monitoring patient progress, and ensuring adherence to treatment plans. Additionally, the NP or PA will provide HIV prevention services, such as pre-exposure prophylaxis (Prep) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP), and engage in education and counseling to reduce risk behaviors. The NP/PA will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic care, support patients in managing their health, and enhance public health initiatives aimed at preventing new HIV infections. Through compassionate care and evidence-based practices, this role contributes to improving patient outcomes, reducing stigma, and advancing HIV prevention and treatment efforts within the community.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide direct patient care that is evidence-based, comprehensive, and in accordance with the Alabama Board of Nursing and national certification boards. Conduct thorough patient evaluations and care management, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions that align with clinical guidelines, current HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, PEP, and STI guidelines. This will be done in collaboration with your collaborating physician. For complicated Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C cases, refer to a specialist as needed. Complete sexual health screenings, evaluation, and treatment of sexually transmitted infections. Provide HIV treatment and limited primary care services. Develop interventions for at-risk individuals using clinical decision-making skills to promote positive health outcomes. Meet with patients in a timely manner to complete intake, sexual history, provide testing, offer evaluation and monitoring, and provide limited primary care. Offer appropriate treatment and education in alignment with nationally and locally recognized recommendations / guidelines. Develop and implement individualized care plans based on evidence and patient needs. Ensure that treatment orders are carried out and review lab results to ensure treatment is completed. Contact patients with results. Educate patients on prevention strategies, treatment options, and health maintenance to empower them in managing their health effectively. Work closely with clinical staff members to coordinate and obtain needed services for patients. Work with interdisciplinary teams such as social services, behavioral health, prevention & outreach, and education to provide comprehensive patient care. Stay current with best clinical practices and advancements in care through continuing education to provide evidence-based treatment. Document all findings in the EMR in a timely manner or as set out by FHHS. Provide training to new mid-level providers and clinic staff as needed. Attend and actively participate in provider meetings. Integrate recommendations made by subspecialists into the patient treatment plan. Provide telemedicine services as needed. Maintain an active nursing license and complete continuing education as required by state licensing standards. FHHS. QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in nursing or higher from an accredited institution Board certification Unencumbered state licensure Experience in managing and treating patients with HIV and related conditions preferred. Knowledge of sexually transmitted diseases, transmission, and treatment. Ability to treat patients in a compassionate, non-judgmental manner. Ability to work with staff, patients, and family members from unique backgrounds Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as a part of a collaborative team Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments Ability to use computer programs/software including but not limited to EMR, Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with industry developments Ability to work and engage with people from unique backgrounds
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Attend all assigned meetings (virtual or in-person) Travel when necessary or as indicated by the supervising leader Assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Healthcare Officer, Chief Clinical Officer, or Clinic Director.
