Varying schedule due to Ortho Trauma Pay Range $47.50 - $71.25 Our orthopedic trauma team is part of Atrium Health's Musculoskeletal Institute (MSKI), one of the largest Musculoskeletal programs in the country. Our institute boasts a comprehensive network of physicians, surgeons, and advanced practice providers (APPs), specializing in spine, orthopedic surgery, primary care sports medicine, and physical medicine and rehabilitation. Atrium Health Musculoskeletal Institute is seeking an experienced and driven Orthopedic Trauma Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) in beautiful Charlotte, North Carolina. The APP will function in the hospital and/or clinic setting, in collaboration with the trauma team and the attending orthopedic Trauma surgeon. The APP will assist with direct patient care including in-patient (hospital) orthopedic Trauma management, hospital rounding and emergency room consultations and/or outpatient (clinic). Experience in Orthopedics Preferred. Essential Functions of Hybrid Inpatient/Outpatient Position Join a team-based model of 7 physicians and 8 APP's Day shifts Approximately 1:8 Weekend & Holiday Rotation Shift Avg shift 10 hours Nationally recognized; High performing level I trauma center Evaluate Emergency Department and inpatient Orthopedic consults, including obtaining history, performing physical exams, reviewing and ordering appropriate diagnostic studies and imaging, and conferring with the on-call Orthopedic surgeon to arrange a proper treatment plan and/or follow-up scheduling Perform procedures to include: local wound care, suturing, bedside I&Ds, traction pin placement, arthrocentesis, joint/trigger point injections, closed reductions, splint/cast application Assist in scheduling and coordination of surgical treatments for trauma patients (i.e. coordination with Trauma team, consultants, OR charge nurse, obtaining consent, posting surgical procedures etc.) Possible opportunities to assist in OR and facilitate patient through put as needed in emergent and elective surgical cases Perform coding and billing for consultations and procedures performed Facilitate discharge and disposition of trauma patients, working closely with Social Work, Clinical Case Managers, and consultant teams Collaborate with medical learners to include Orthopedic residents, Orthopedic fellows, and medical students Participate in quality control initiatives Work in autonomous, independent clinic and/or shared orthopedic trauma faculty clinic Responsible for billing and coding appropriately for office visits, consultations and procedures performed Perform procedures in the clinic setting to include: local wound care, bedside I&Ds, removal of hardware, arthrocentesis, joint/trigger point injections, closed reductions, splint/cast application Care coordination for orthopedic trauma patients, working closely with Social Work, Clinical Case Managers, clinical RNs Collaborate with medical learners to include Orthopedic residents, Orthopedic fellows, and medical students Participate in quality control initiatives
Qualifications:
Approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in North Carolina. Nurse Practitioner - Master's Degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required. License to practice as a Registered Nurse required. Certification in the area of practice from a nationally recognized certifying body required. Acute Care board certification required Physician Assistant - Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program required; Master's Degree preferred. Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants preferred. Must have or be eligible for a DEA license. Eligible for prescriptive authority application through the Board of Nursing or Medical Board in NC required. BLS for Healthcare Provider from AHA required with expiration date greater than 90 days from date of beginning practice.
