Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our dedicated healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive mental health services, including psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and therapy, to diverse patient populations across outpatient and inpatient settings. Your expertise will help improve mental health outcomes, promote recovery, and support overall well-being. Responsibilities Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments and develop individualized treatment plans for patients of all ages, including children, geriatrics, and those with developmental disabilities. Prescribe and manage medications, including psychopharmacology treatments such as antidepressants, antipsychotics, and mood stabilizers, ensuring safe administration and monitoring. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care for patients in settings such as assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or outpatient clinics. Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or eClinicalWorks to document patient encounters accurately and efficiently. Provide crisis intervention and triage services for urgent mental health needs while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Engage in clinical research or quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing mental health care practices. Educate patients and families on mental health conditions, treatment options, and wellness strategies to promote recovery and resilience. Skills Proven experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Athenahealth for comprehensive medical documentation. Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology principles and medication management strategies. Ability to perform detailed patient assessments, including vital signs, mental status exams, and physiological evaluations. Familiarity with diverse clinical settings, including hospital medicine, emergency medicine, ICU or trauma centers, outpatient clinics, or home care environments. Competence in performing procedures such as suturing, IV infusion, venipuncture, catheterization, or sterile processing when necessary. Excellent communication skills for teaching hospital environments or telehealth platforms; ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams. Minimum Requirements Graduate from an accredited PMHNP program at the master's or higher degree level. Possess appropriate board certification as a PMHNP. Possess an active and unencumbered license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse as well as a DEA license (or be able to obtain one) to prescribe controlled substances in the State of Nebraska. Be able to work with individuals of all ages to accurately diagnose and manage their psychiatric and mental health conditions. Preferred Requirements One year or more of PMHNP experience. Outpatient experience. New graduates with strong clinical skills are encouraged to apply.
