Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a full-time Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurse (APN), where you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional mental health care across diverse patient populations. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments, medication management, and therapeutic interventions, ensuring optimal mental health outcomes. Duties Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and assessments for patients across outpatient and inpatient settings, including acute care, behavioral health, geriatrics, and pediatric populations. Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans utilizing evidence-based practices and psychopharmacology principles. Administer medications, including complex regimens involving psychotropic drugs, while ensuring adherence to safety protocols and regulatory standards such as HIPAA and ICD coding. Provide patient education on medication management, lifestyle modifications, and coping strategies to promote recovery and wellness. Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care plans. Document all patient interactions accurately using EMR systems such as Epic or eClinicalWorks; maintain detailed medical records in compliance with legal and organizational standards. Participate in clinical research initiatives related to behavioral health innovations or new treatment modalities like botulinum toxin treatment or esthetic laser therapy when applicable. Qualifications Valid state licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse with certification in psychiatric-mental health nursing (PMHNP-BC preferred). Demonstrated experience in psychiatric assessment, medication management, and crisis intervention within diverse settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or outpatient clinics. Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems including Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth; familiarity with medical documentation standards. Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology, ICD-10 coding, CPT procedures related to mental health treatments, and Workers' Compensation law where relevant. Experience working with special populations such as children (pediatrics), seniors (geriatrics), individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care needs is highly desirable. Skills in triage assessment, acute pain management techniques, sedation procedures like spinal taps or IV infusions are advantageous. Excellent communication skills coupled with critical thinking abilities to deliver compassionate patient care across complex cases involving trauma centers or hospice & palliative medicine environments.
