I am reaching out regarding an exceptional opportunity with Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC) at their new Crisis Receiving & Stabilization Center located in Newark, NJ. Rutgers is launching a new 24 hour Evaluation & Treatment Center and is seeking experienced Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs) to join the inaugural team. This is a high visibility initiative and an excellent opportunity for clinicians who thrive in fast paced, high acuity psychiatric settings.

Start Date:
Orientation begins April 6th, 2026 all providers must be available Monday Friday that week.
Duration:
Minimum 8 weeks; likely 13+ weeks with extensions. Strong performers may be offered permanent positions.
Schedule:
24 hour Evaluation & Treatment Center. One PMHNP per shift. No on call required.
Compensation:
$100/hr. Clinical Scope The PMHNP will work within a Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) focusing on rapid assessment and stabilization not long term treatment.
Responsibilities include:
Psychiatric evaluations, MSEs, and risk assessments Crisis management and trauma informed de escalation Initiating and managing psychotropic medications Short term therapy and psychoeducation Ordering/interpretation of labs and diagnostics Close collaboration with RNs and on site Psychiatrist (CMO) This is a new facility; providers should expect a dynamic environment with evolving workflows. Requirements Board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) FNPs will not be considered Active New Jersey APRN license Active
BLS EPIC EMR
