The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner , needed two to three (2-3) days per week, will provide culturally competent mental health care to children, adolescent and adult clients who are experiencing varying levels of difficulties due to substance use and co-occurring disorders or mental health concerns, and in need of medication evaluation or medication management services. Psychiatric evaluation and limited psychotherapy also provided. Preference is for a candidate who is Board Certified in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
- Provide high quality, compassionate and ethical outpatient mental health therapy to children, adolescents, and adult clients as scheduled, with primary responsibility for medication evaluation/management.
- Complete clinical documentation on the date of service (for insurance billing purposes).
- Communicate well with community mental health and medical providers to ensure effective coordination of care.
- Educate clients and their families regarding home care.
- Maintain required billable hours as per negotiated contract. Utilize a flexible work schedule that meets the needs of clients.
- Actively participate as a positive member of the Quest Counseling Team.
- Maintain good standing with the appropriate board and insurance entities.
- Maintain active DEA number.
- Be aware of community referral sources and refer when necessary.
- Secure client information per HIPAA standards.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Diagnose psychiatric disorders in children, adolescents and/or adults
- Write prescriptions for psychotropic medications as allowed by licensing board.
- License to prescribe Suboxone (Buprenorphine) or agree to pursue license to prescribe (24-hour course).
- Manage/monitor patient's medication usage and results.
- Provide individual or family therapy for patients with acute or chronic mental health disorders.
- Knowledge of family systems and their impact on mental health within the family.
- Skill in applying varied interventions with individuals/families in crisis.
- Skill in working with a variety of cultures.
- Ability to demonstrate positive team interactions with other agency staff.
Education and Experience:
- Must be a registered nurse practitioner with a concentration in psychiatric nursing. Must be registered in Nevada.
- Previous experience preferred, but not required
