Job Description

Seeking an experienced Urgent Care APP to join a great team!
Statement of Purpose:
An Urgent Care Advanced Practice Provider performs various functions in ensuring that patients that need immediate attention are stabilized and properly cared for.
MAJOR TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Introduces self to patient and patient's family, explaining the APP's role and responsibilities prior to any work-up or assessment. Must demonstrate the ability to care for patients of the adolescent to geriatric age range. Remains in the hospital, available and responsive to calls at all times while on duty. Diagnose and treat a variety of common acute and chronic conditions across the lifespan. Examines patient, takes medical history, records results, and makes preliminary diagnosis or decides on follow-up procedures. Order and interpret electrocardiograms, laboratory tests, and radiographs. Perform minor procedures including laceration repair and cast and splint application. Performs therapeutic procedures such as immunizations, injections, suturing and wound care, and managing infection. Procedure privileges are based on documentation of training and experience. Supervising physician or otherwise designated credentialed provider does verification of competency. Exercises professional judgment regarding consultation with supervising physicians concerning appropriate treatment. Develops and implements patient care plans, instructs and counsels patients, and records progress. Prescribes medications to the extent allowable by state guidelines and clinic regulations. Provides general health education regarding matters such as proper diet, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance. Consult specialists and review notes from emergency, hospital, surgical, and specialist care. Cross-covers on paged medical problems that arise and cares for the patient promptly and efficiently. Obtains consents for necessary procedures to be performed by the APP only. Works in an environment that is consistent with company philosophy of Continuous Quality Improvement and employee standards. Maintains adequate CME credits to ensure ongoing competency for performing job duties. Maintains current NYS license and Department of Transportation (DOT) Certification.
