Job Description
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Responsibilities :
Assesses the patient's general mental health condition by collecting medical histories, administering comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and identifying issues that may be affecting the patient's state of mental health. Interprets and integrates data to determine preliminary diagnosis and creates an individualized therapeutic plan for mental health problems and psychiatric disorders based on evidence-based standards of care and practice guidelines. Prescribes psychotropic drugs and related medications to treat symptoms of psychiatric disorders and improve functional health status based on clinical indications of a patient's status, including results of diagnostic and lab tests. Identifies, measures, and monitors clinical and related behavioral outcomes to determine the effectiveness and appropriateness of the plan of care. Educates patients and /or family as to the nature of the psychiatric condition and provides appropriate instructions on proper intervention and treatment. Collaborates with the psychiatrists and other staff members in the team in managing acute and long-term medical and psychiatric/mental health needs of patients. Documents medical history and treatment plans effectively, concisely and accurately. Maintains patient confidentiality. Coordinates referrals and ongoing access to primary and other health care services for patients. Provides consultation to and seeks consultation from other health care clinicians to enhance quality and continuity of care. Collaborates with other departments in the health center to improve and enhance communication and quality of care. Provides coverage for other providers after hours or when away (e.g. vacations or time off). Complies with applicable policies and procedures and supports the Compliance Program. Contributes to organizational operations by performing other duties as may be required .Refuah Benefits:

Active NY DEA RegistrationBSN, MSN
preferred; successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner psychiatric program Current registered nurse license and certification in New York State Minimum of three years of professional nursing experience in a clinic or hospital setting plus at least one year of psychiatric nurse practitioner experience Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices and regulations to give and evaluate patient care Knowledge of drug regimens and their indications, dosing, side effects, and proper administration Knowledge of current and emerging trends in technologies, techniques, methods, issues and approaches in psychiatry Knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations as they apply to the advanced practice of nursing Displays exceptional verbal and written communication skills Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations Ability to establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, families, and other members of the health care team Eligible to Work in the US Principals only.
