Job Description

Job Purpose Summary:
The Psychiatric Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), also known as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), is responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric care to residents in a licensed mental health residential facility. This includes psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, medication management, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team to support recovery and stabilization.
Objectives and Key Results:
Medical Orders signed upon admission of the client Patient needs to be seen within 24 hours of admission Ability to complete a medication management appointment in30 minutes Ability to complete a psychiatric evaluation in 60minutes
Responsibilities Include:
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, including mental status exams and diagnostic evaluations Diagnose and treat mental health and co-occurring substance use disorders in accordance withDSM-5 criteria Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychotropic medications in compliance with Ohio laws and standards of care Develop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the clinical team Provide ongoing medication management and follow-up care Monitor residents for medication efficacy, side effects, and potential interactions Respond to psychiatric emergencies and provide crisis intervention as needed Collaborate with therapists, nurses, case managers, and other staff to ensure coordinated care Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation Educate residents and families on diagnoses, medications, and treatment plans Participate in case conferences, treatment team meetings, and quality improvement initiatives Documentation-Medication management/ evals-completed and signed within 24 hours Ability to administer Long-Acting Injectables Prop er
Knowledge and Skills:
Medical Competencies Demonstrates sound knowledge of psychopharmacology, prescribing medications, and DEA/CDS regulations Demonstrates sound knowledge of ordering and interpreting lab work Demonstrates sound knowledge of diagnostic criteria, DSMV, Demonstrates sound knowledge of administration and interpretation of Clinical Assessment Tools such as AIMS, PHQ9, Columbia Scale Demonstrates sound knowledge of co-occurring disorders Demonstrates sound knowledge of Crisis management and assessment/management of suicidal ideation Produces high quality and clinically appropriate documentation in a timely manner Core Competencies Proper English and grammar, usage and spelling Software application related to the field General offices principles and practices Basic computer knowledge including email etiquette Professional phone and customer service demeanor Demonstrate Motivational Interviewing Skills Demonstrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Demonstrate Educational Strategies Physical requirements: Must be able to lift20-50 lbs. Occasional to frequent walking, sitting, standing, driving Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing)

Communicable diseases Hot/cold temperatures Environmental conditions may vary Required education/qualifications: Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program Current licensure as an APRN in the State of practice Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) through American Nurses Credentialing Center Current DEA registration and prescriptive authority in Ohio Active Certificate to Prescribe (CTP) in state of practice Minimum of [1-3] years of experience in psychiatric or behavioral health settings (residential experience preferred) Required experience: Minimum of [1-3] years of experience in psychiatric or behavioral health settings (residential experience preferred) Required licenses or certifications : Advanced Practice Nursing Certification/PMHNP Master or Doctorate
