Job Description

Position Title:
Part-time Correctional Nurse Practitioner Location:
London, OH, 43140
Schedule & Hours:
  • Part-time, approximately 20 hours per week
  • Day shift
  • Weekdays only
Position Summary:
We are seeking a Family Nurse Practitioner licensed in Ohio to provide part-time, on-site medical services at a correctional facility serving an adult male population. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of nurse practitioner experience in primary care. This is a weekday-only position with no evenings, weekends, or holidays. Start and end times may be flexible based on facility operations. The initial assignment is expected to last approximately three months, with the possibility of extension based on operational needs and performance fit.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and manage chronic illnesses using established correctional healthcare policies and protocols
  • Provide care for acute and chronic conditions, including prescribing medications, administering treatments, and performing minor procedures within scope of practice
  • Perform routine physical examinations and diagnose new medical conditions
  • Order, review, and interpret laboratory, imaging, and other diagnostic tests
  • Evaluate patients for specialty referrals and review consultation recommendations
  • Collaborate with the Chief Medical Officer on medical reclassification and non-formulary medication requests
  • Deliver routine and emergency medical care as scheduled
  • Conduct infirmary rounds as appropriate
  • Document all patient encounters, assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up in accordance with correctional healthcare guidelines and accreditation standards
  • Participate in medical quality oversight and collaborate with leadership on clinical guidance and improvements
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master s Degree in Nursing
  • Active Ohio Nurse Practitioner license
  • Board certification as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Minimum of one year of Nurse Practitioner experience in primary care
  • Current healthcare-provider level BLS/CPR certification
  • DEA registration (required for the assignment)
