Contract Shift:
Monday to Friday ( Shifts can be four 10-hour or five 8-hour shifts, with some flexibility with start and end times based on facility operations. The assignment is projected to last 3 months but may be extended based on need and mutually good fit).
Pay Rate:
$67 to $72 per hour Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP) to provide primary and preventive healthcare services within a correctional facility. The Nurse Practitioner will assess, diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic medical conditions while promoting overall health and wellness among the incarcerated population. This role requires strong clinical judgment, collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care in a secure environment. Key Responsibilities Perform comprehensive health assessments, physical examinations, and medical evaluations. Diagnose and treat acute and chronic medical conditions. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs. Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with state regulations and facility protocols. Order, interpret, and review laboratory tests, diagnostic studies, and imaging results. Manage chronic disease programs, including diabetes, hypertension, asthma, COPD, and other long-term conditions. Provide preventive care, health screenings, and patient education. Respond to urgent and emergent medical situations and provide appropriate interventions. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, mental health professionals, and correctional staff to coordinate care. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR). Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with correctional healthcare standards and policies. Qualifications Active Nurse Practitioner license in the State of [State]. Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C/FNP-BC) or Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP/AGPCNP). Current DEA registration and prescriptive authority (if required by state law). Master's or Doctoral Degree in Nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Current BLS certification; ACLS preferred. Strong assessment, diagnostic, and clinical decision-making skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating with an interdisciplinary healthcare team. Preferred Experience Experience in correctional healthcare, primary care, urgent care, emergency medicine, internal medicine, or family practice. Experience managing chronic and complex medical conditions. Familiarity with EMR systems and electronic documentation. Experience working with underserved or high-risk patient populations.
