Job Summary:
The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for providing psychiatric evaluations, developing treatment plans, and managing the overall mental health care of patients within our facility. This role requires a strong commitment to patient care, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
Core Responsibilities:
Providing primary care to patients who are engaged in outpatient SUD treatment at various levels-of-care. Performing initial examinations, including history and physical exams and ongoing patient observations. Provide appropriate medical and medication intervention in compliance within State and Federal regulation, best practice guidelines, and within the scope of practice of licensure. Ordering and administering diagnostic tests, ordering labs, and providing injections as needed. Communicating test results to patients and appropriate medical and clinical staff. Recording and updating patient medical histories in electronic medical records systems. Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care. Develop individualized treatment plans that incorporate evidence-based practices. Prescribe medication and monitor treatment responses. Flexibility to adapt to schedule changes and assumption of responsibilities not delineated in the job description which are related to work as a member of an addiction treatment team.
Education Requirements:
Masters of Science in Nursing from an accredited college or university required.
License Requirements:
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse License required. BLS certification required, will train upon hire.
Experience Requirements:
Minimum of 5+ years relevant professional experience. Knowledge and experience in coordinating patient care and treating patients with co-occurring behavioral health and substance use disorders, including Medication Assisted Treatments. Proficient in diagnosis criteria and treatment of behavioral health and substance use disorders. Working knowledge of therapies, approaches, and treatment models for treatment of mental health and substance use disorders, including day treatment and therapeutic behavioral services. Proficient in electronic health record management systems and documentation, as well as the utilization of office and clinical technologies. Advanced ability to educate patients, staff, and the community on health issues and promoting overall wellness. Conflict management and crisis intervention experience and skills. Ability to effectively apply problem-solving skills while providing real time solutions. Excellent bed-side manners, interpersonal and interprofessional skills, as well as leadership skills. Work well as part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team consisting of medical and clinical staff. Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize, meet deadlines, and communicate challenges effectively.
