Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Southern Oregon Cardiology is seeking a compassionate, clinically curious, and highly motivated Advanced Practice Provider to join our outpatient cardiology team. This role is open to either a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant . Position Summary The Cardiology Advanced Practice Provider provides direct clinical care in an outpatient cardiology setting. The APP works closely with Southern Oregon Cardiology physicians to support the acute and long-term cardiovascular needs of established patients, provide patient education, manage follow-up care, and contribute to high-quality, coordinated cardiac care. The APP practices in accordance with applicable Oregon licensure requirements, professional scope of practice, clinic policies, physician-established standards and protocols, and all applicable federal and state requirements. What You Will Do The Cardiology Advanced Practice Provider will: Collaborate with cardiologists in managing acute and long-term medical needs of established patients. Assess established patients who require urgent, non-emergent evaluation and care. Assist in clinical emergencies within the clinic. Perform physical assessments and examinations. Order appropriate workups, diagnostic testing, and special studies. Review and manage cardiac medications, including renewals and dosage adjustments within scope of practice. Prescribe medications within applicable Oregon licensure requirements, clinic policy, and authorized scope of practice. Maintain appropriate DEA registration for controlled substances, if required for the role. Provide patient and family education regarding cardiac risk reduction, medications, testing, treatment plans, and follow-up care. Support ongoing care for patients with congestive heart failure, with a focus on improving quality of life and reducing avoidable rehospitalization. Determine appropriate patient follow-up in alignment with physician protocols and patient needs. Provide timely follow-up to patients regarding test results, lab results, and patient-initiated calls. Document accurately, thoroughly, and timely in the electronic medical record. Follow appropriate billing and coding standards. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and all applicable privacy standards. Maintain schedule templates within practice guidelines. Partner with administration, physicians, the advanced practice provider lead, and leadership to support patient access, clinical priorities, and quality care. Required Qualifications Qualified candidates must meet the requirements for either the Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant pathway. Nurse Practitioner Requirements Current Oregon Nurse Practitioner license. Master's degree or higher from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Current board certification as a Nurse Practitioner. Ability to practice within Oregon State Board of Nursing requirements and applicable federal regulations. Physician Assistant Requirements Current Oregon Physician Assistant license. Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program. Current NCCPA certification, if required by licensure, credentialing, or organizational standards. Ability to practice within Oregon Medical Board requirements, including applicable collaboration agreement requirements, clinic policy, and federal regulations. Requirements for All Candidates Current DEA certificate with appropriate prescribing authority, or ability to obtain as required. Current BLS and ACLS certification. Strong clinical assessment, communication, and documentation skills. Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and multidisciplinary clinical teams. Moderate computer literacy and ability to use an electronic medical record effectively. Commitment to patient confidentiality, professionalism, and respectful communication. Preferred Qualifications Experience in cardiology, internal medicine, urgent care, emergency medicine, or another related specialty. American College of Cardiology membership as an associate, or willingness to pursue. Completion of the ACC Core Curriculum for Cardiovascular Clinicians, or equivalent cardiology education. Interest in pursuing specialty certification or advanced education in cardiology. Reporting Structure The Advanced Practice Provider collaborates directly with Southern Oregon Cardiology physicians for all aspects of clinical practice, partners with the advanced practice provider lead, and reports to the CEO for non-clinical employment matters.
