Job Description

Job Summary Geisinger's Heart and Vascular Institute is seeking a physician assistant or nurse practitioner to join Geisinger Community Medical Center located at Olive Street in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Job Duties Geisinger's Heart & Vascular Institute spans a 45-county service area and has over 100 physicians and more than 75 advanced practitioners. Geisinger Heart Institute features multiple accredited chest pain centers, a nationally recognized regional
STEMI PCI
network, complex arrhythmia ablation, a full range of coronary, vascular and structural heart interventions and an advanced heart failure program.
The ideal candidate will:
Collaborate with the physicians to assess, diagnose, and treat adult cardiac patients referred to the cardiology service Demonstrates autonomy through patient evaluations, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care Manages and assists in the smooth, efficient operations of the inpatient cardiology patient, outpatient cardiology clinic, cardiac labs and outreach cardiology clinics Orders testing as deemed necessary and remains proficient in interpreting results and prescribing appropriate medication regimen within the scope of practice of the nurse practitioner Enjoy a practice of outpatient clinic while collaborate with regional colleagues. The successful Nurse Practitioner candidate will work in collaboration with the physician and have a certificate of completion from an approved program for Nurse Practitioners or be eligible to hold national certification that allows the NP to work with the patient populations and location settings associated with this position. Must be eligible for licensure as a nurse practitioner in the state of PA. The successful Physician Assistant must be a graduate of a ARC-approved physician assistant program, eligible or certified by the National Commission for the Certification of Physician Assistants and eligible or certified by the State Board of Medicine.
