Exempt A Brief Overview The Advanced Practice Provider is responsible for the management and documentation of the medical plan of care prescribed for the patient based on plan adopted jointly by the APP and the supervising physician / medical director. Billing and quality management activities may be part of the responsibilities. Cardiology Inpatient
  • assess patients and orders appropriate tests and medications; works in conjunction with the physician to help maintain or improve a patient's quality of life.

Education Qualifications Graduate of an accredited PA/APRN program. Meets educational preparation or other qualifications within specified time frames as determined/outlined by specific department policy. Required Experience Qualifications Experience with cardiovascular patient care. Preferred Skills and Abilities All APRN incumbents are required to maintain Registered Nurse competencies as designated by Federal and State organizations and as outlined in SVH policy. (Required proficiency) Demonstrates supportive behaviors necessary for age-specific care as determined by specific department(s). Develops, maintains and fosters positive working relationships with customers and other staff members. (Required proficiency) Receives peer's and supervisor's feedback for improvement in a constructive manner and accepts as an opportunity for growth. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. (Required proficiency) Is knowledgeable of billing and reimbursement issues related to the management of patients. (Required proficiency) Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. (Required proficiency) Licenses and Certifications Physician Assistant (PA)
  • KSBHA Required or Nurse Practitioner
  • KSBN Must hold a RN license with advanced practice certification Required Additional certifications may be required for certain patient care settings or populations. DEA registration number is required. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
  • ACLS Required within 4 months of hire What you will do Ensures that care delivered to patients is provided according to the Stormont Vail Health mission, strategic plans, and all internal/external regulations, policies, and procedures.
Practices within the Kansas Nurse Practice Act/Kansas Board of Healing Arts and within the guidelines of management protocols. Supports the established care models of Stormont Vail Health. Has prescriptive authority per Kansas Nurse Practice Act/Kansas Board of Healing Arts and Stormont Vail Health protocols. Understands the pathophysiology and treatment of cardiovascular disease and is able to apply this understanding when assessing and treating a patient. Adjusts patient's plan of care (testing medications, diet, and activity) under the direction of the supervising physician/medical director and approved written protocols. Performs preoperative evaluations. Assesses the patient and orders appropriate tests and medications; confirms with physician as appropriate. Collaborates with primary care physician to provide communication of patient's plan of care and outcomes. Educates patients and documents cardiovascular risk modification teaching. Identifies patient/SO learning needs and implements appropriate measures to meet these needs. Participates in community education/outreach activities. Completes hospital rounding and documentation in a through and accurate manner, including history and physical exams and progress notes according to the Medical Staff Rules and Regulations. Assess normal/abnormal findings from the history physical exam, laboratory reports, and other diagnostic tests. Plan, implement, and evaluate care for the cardiac inpatients. Manage the medical plan of care prescribed for the patient based on protocols or guidelines adopted jointly by the APP and the supervising physician/medical director or within the Nurse Practice Act/Physician Assistant Practice Act. Generates daily charges consistent with documentation when appropriate. Performs efficiently in emergency patient situations following established protocol. Has a strong understanding of billing and reimbursement issues related to the management of patients in each setting. Complete discharge summaries in a timely manner as required by Medical Staff Policy. Provide routine hospital coverage on weekends, up to 1:7, or per predetermined schedule. Order appropriate laboratory and other diagnostic studies and procedures according to protocols. Consult with the patient and interdisciplinary team members to provide for ongoing care or referral. May be required to provide outreach clinic cardiac care.
