Job Description

Job Overview The Nurse Practitioner performs comprehensive occupational health physicals for firefighters in accordance with NFPA standards and departmental requirements. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality, efficient, and standardized medical evaluations while ensuring an exceptional patient experience. The Nurse Practitioner collaborates with clinical and administrative staff to support clinic flow, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote firefighter health and safety. Supervisor Medical Director / Practice Administrator Job Duties may include but are not limited to: Conduct comprehensive firefighter physicals, including medical history review and physical examination Perform and interpret screenings such as cardiovascular, pulmonary, vision, hearing, and musculoskeletal assessments Order, review, and interpret diagnostic testing including labs, EKGs, and imaging as indicated Document findings accurately and efficiently in the electronic health record system Determine medical clearance for duty in accordance with NFPA and department standards Communicate results and recommendations clearly to patients and, when appropriate, department representatives Identify and manage abnormal findings, including referrals and follow-up care recommendations Collaborate with Medical Assistants, Exercise Physiologists, Athletic Trainersand administrative staff ensuring efficient clinic flow Maintain compliance with all occupational health, HIPAA, and clinic policies and procedures Participate in quality improvement and standardization initiatives Assist with protocol development and clinical workflow optimization Support clinic operations and assist with additional clinical duties as needed Qualifications Current, active Nurse Practitioner license in applicable state National board certification as a Nurse Practitioner Current DEA license (if applicable) Minimum of (2) years clinical experience preferred (occupational health, emergency medicine, or primary care strongly preferred) Experience performing physical examinations and interpreting diagnostic tests Strong clinical decision-making and critical thinking skills Excellent communication skills with ability to educate and engage patients Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume, standardized environment Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy Proficiency with electronic medical record systems Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a te
