Overview:
Our Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners provide continuous and comprehensive services necessary for the promotion of optimal mental health, prevention and treatment of psychiatric disorders, and health maintenance to adults and adolescents. This includes the assessment, diagnosis, and management of mental health problems and psychiatric disorders as well as the prescription and management of medication.Skills required:
Our Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners must be able to communicate clearly and kindly both in writing and verbally with patients, health care team members, families, and school staff, as well as function independently with regards to most clinical decision making. We look for team members who are compassionate, caring, and relate well to patients in addition to being well-versed in mental health care and assessments. Our Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners must be able to work collaboratively with other mental health providers as well as with our community PCPs and school personnel.Responsibilities:
Thorough initial psychiatric evaluation of the patient leading to a differential diagnosis and treatment plan of care. Knowledge of and adherence to professionally accepted standards of care such as treatment guidelines put out by the American Psychiatric Association (APA) and the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) or equivalent practice standards of care. Maintain a customer-oriented approach to meeting patient needs in an expedient manner, involving the family in the plan of care as appropriate. Maintain confidentiality and patient privacy. Document care provided meeting standards for chart reviews. Seek consultations as appropriate, act as a consultant as requested. Take an active role in contributing to the improvement of office functioning. Maintain an effective panel size and is responsible for an average of 15 patient visits per day.Qualifications:
Master's prepared Nurse Practitioner with Board Certification in Psychiatry with 3-5 or more years' experience working in an ambulatory psychiatric setting. •Please note that while we prefer clinicians who can work at least part time in our San Luis Obispo clinic, we will also consider applicants who wish to work remotely.Job Type:
