Position Overview The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is responsible for providing comprehensive evaluations, medication management, treatment planning, and ongoing psychiatric care to children, adolescents, and adults. The PMHNP will work collaboratively with therapists, case managers, community support staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated, client-centered care. The ideal candidate is passionate about serving diverse populations, committed to trauma-informed practice, and skilled in treating a wide range of behavioral health conditions. Responsibilities Medication Management Prescribe, monitor, and manage psychotropic medications. Educate clients and families regarding medications, treatment options, side effects, and expected outcomes. Monitor treatment effectiveness and adjust medication regimens as clinically indicated. Order and review laboratory testing when appropriate. Clinical Care Provide ongoing psychiatric follow-up appointments. Collaborate with therapists and treatment teams to coordinate care. Support clients with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Participate in crisis intervention and stabilization planning when necessary. Collaboration & Consultation Work closely with therapists, case managers, primary care providers, schools, hospitals, child welfare agencies, and other community partners. Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings. Provide clinical consultation regarding psychiatric treatment and medication concerns. Documentation & Compliance Complete psychiatric evaluations, medication management notes, treatment plans, and other required clinical documentation in a timely manner. Maintain compliance with Medicaid, commercial insurance, HIPAA, Kentucky Board of Nursing regulations, and agency policies. Support quality assurance and accreditation initiatives. Requirements Active and unrestricted Kentucky Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license. Board Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). Current DEA registration and Kentucky controlled substance prescribing authority. Ability to independently evaluate, diagnose, and treat psychiatric disorders. Strong clinical assessment and communication skills. Experience working with electronic health records (EHR). Preferred Experience serving children, adolescents, and families. Experience treating trauma, anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, and behavioral disorders. Experience with Medicaid populations. Telehealth experience.
