Job Description
Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides behavioral health services to adults, adolescents and children within the scope and practice. Obtains comprehensive health histories, requests special diagnostic and laboratory tests, interprets test results, and develops comprehensive psychiatric treatment plans. Provides mental health assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans in identified areas; provides medication management for patients; and maintain appropriate health records. Prescribes pharmaceutical therapy consistent with medical evaluation, treatment plan and current standards of practice. Collaborates with guardians, relatives, and significant others on client's conditions and treatment when clinically appropriate and as allowable by law. Participates in a team management approach to patient care/treatment. Collaborates with precepting Physician(s) and other healthcare disciplines, as appropriate. Refers clients for more specialized or inpatient interventions as situations arise. Participates in after-hours phone call rotation for Behavioral Health. Maintains appropriate documentation of clinical services in the EMR, including all necessary billing information. Maintains quality care through participation in peer review and quality improvement programs. Actively participates in quarterly Provider/Continuous Performance Improvement/Pharmacy and Therapeutics meetings and other meetings as required. Other duties as assigned.Qualifications:
APRN licensure in the state of South Carolina with prescriptive authority and Certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner; or Licensed as a Physician Assistant by the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation Board of Medical Examiners. Current Federal DEA Registration and SC Controlled Substance Registration Previous experience assessing and providing medication management for patients with behavioral health disorders in a psychiatric or primary care setting preferred.
