Job Description

Vascular Medicine Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant (NP/PA) Position Summary The Vascular Medicine Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant provides comprehensive care for patients with arterial, venous, and lymphatic disorders. Working collaboratively with vascular medicine physicians, vascular surgeons, and interdisciplinary care teams, this role focuses on evaluation, diagnosis, medical management, and coordination of care to optimize vascular health and patient outcomes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Evaluate and manage patients with vascular conditions including peripheral arterial disease, venous thromboembolism, chronic venous insufficiency, aneurysmal disease, and lymphatic disorders Perform comprehensive vascular assessments, including history and physical examinations Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians Manage medical therapies such as antiplatelet agents, anticoagulation, lipid-lowering therapy, and risk-factor modification Interpret diagnostic studies including vascular ultrasound, ABI testing, CT angiography, and laboratory data as appropriate Provide inpatient consultation and outpatient clinic care depending on practice setting Coordinate care with vascular surgery, cardiology, wound care, podiatry, and primary care providers Educate patients and families on disease processes, medication management, lifestyle modification, and preventive care Monitor treatment response and adjust care plans as needed Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and outcomes initiatives Comply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program Current NP or PA certification and state licensure Eligibility for hospital credentialing and privileging DEA registration or eligibility Prior experience or training in vascular medicine, cardiology, or internal medicine preferred Skills and Competencies Strong clinical assessment and vascular disease management skills Knowledge of arterial and venous pathophysiology and medical management Ability to manage chronic and complex conditions Excellent communication and patient education skills Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams Commitment to evidence-based practice and patient-centered care Work Environment Outpatient vascular clinics, hospital inpatient units, diagnostic vascular labs, and specialty care settings Schedule may include clinic hours and limited call responsibilities depending on practice needs Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout clinical environments Manual dexterity for examinations and diagnostic testing Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for patient assessment and interpretation of diagnostic data
