Job Description
Seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join the Neurosurgery team in Rapid City, SD. Open to experienced providers and new/early-career APPs; comprehensive training provided for candidates with a strong clinical foundation and interest in surgical care. Key responsibilities Perform hospital rounds, consults, and post-operative follow-ups under neurosurgeon supervision First-assist in neurosurgical procedures in the operating room Perform and assist with bedside procedures within scope of practice Manage clinic patients including pre-op and post-op evaluations and conservative treatment Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment options, surgical care, and follow-up Collaborate with neurosurgeons, nursing, and other specialists to coordinate care Accurately document all encounters and procedures in the EMR Participate in shared team call coverage Required qualifications Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program Current or eligible South Dakota license BLS and ACLS required (or ability to obtain prior to start) Strong communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative, hands-on environment Preferred Prior surgical or neurology/neurosurgery experience (not required; training provided) Location Rapid City is located in the Black Hills with access to outdoor recreation and a regional medical community; cost of living is competitive.
