Job Description

Nurse Practitioner

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Licensed Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Tennessee
  • requirement Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Tennessee
  • requirement Psych Certification (AANP or ANCC) in the State of Tennessee
  • requirement Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) license in the State of Tennessee
  • requirement CPR Certification in the State of Tennessee
  • requirement 5+ years of experience in a psychiatric setting
  • preferred 2+ Years' Experience working in the Behavioral Health field
  • preferred Organized with a strong attention to detail; able to multi-task and prioritize work Establish and maintain positive working relationships with all clients, AHS employees and community you interact with as an AHS employee.
General Function:
The person in this position serves as a member of an interdisciplinary Medical/Nursing team in the role of an Advance Practice Nurse.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Assess the needs and problems of individual clients Participate in the development of treatment and housing plans for clients, including making recommendations and evaluating the progress as it develops Provide individual and group psychosocial training Complete a mental status exam Evaluate the effectiveness of medication in managing the symptoms of the client Adverse effects, reactions, drug-drug interactions, drug to food interactions and drug disease interactions Immediately alert proscribing professional of any serious reactions or interactions Supervise residents in the self-administration of medication(s) Administer intramuscular medicines Complete documentation following medication administration Educate client(s) about their mental illness, how medications act, importance of complying and coping with adverse effects/reactions/interactions with the medication Monitor the frequency which the client needs to see the prescribing professional and schedule the client accordingly Participate in discharge planning Complete chart information and documentation within required Center time frames Observe, monitor and assist on site when needed Backup and assist house manager in planning and conducting any recreational activities provided for the residents Performs other duties as requested
