Nurse Practitioner A - TB Elimination (Health Services) Shelby County Government - 3.6 Memphis, TN Job Details Full-time 11 hours ago Qualifications RN License Clinic experience Driver's License Advanced practice provider Prescribing medications Full Job Description Position Summary Provides clinical coordination for the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI); supports the operational efficiency of TB clinics; collaborates with providers on patient management and treatment orders; and offers clinical guidance to ensure effective TB disease control and positive public health outcomes.
Pay Grade:
56 Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education Minimum Qualifications Two (2) years of advanced professional clinical-related experience; AND Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in nursing. An equivalent combination of related training and experience. Active, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee, or an application for license transfer to TN must be in process for consideration. Experience working in a tuberculosis clinical environment.
PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.
Duties and Responsibilities Provides advanced nursing services for TB care, including assessment, support of diagnosis, and implementation of treatment in accordance with established protocols and medical direction. Performs and applies diagnostic and treatment procedures related to tuberculosis based on medical directives and clinical guidelines. Maintains accurate and compliant medical records and documentation; contributes to required reports and program data. Supports TB clinic operations by assisting with workflow development, patient care priorities, and clinical objectives. Develops and delivers education and counseling to individuals, families, and groups on TB prevention, treatment, and health promotion. Demonstrates clinical leadership by supporting protocol development, mentoring staff and students, and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. Participates in quality assurance activities, including peer and cohort reviews, and contributes to program planning and staff training initiatives. Performs assigned public health emergency preparedness and response duties, including required training and participation in drills and disaster response activities. Performs other related duties as required or directed. KSAs Extensive knowledge of basic principles and practices of professional nursing. Ability to function independently in the TB clinic setting. Extensive knowledge of social and economic forces affecting the health of people, family, and group relationships. Commitment to the aims and purposes of the TB Elimination Program as well as the SCHD. Ability to become and remain proficient in knowledge of the
NTN DOH TB
Guidelines and current medical practice. Ability to collaborate, coordinate, lead others in improvement of health care, and exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact professionally and tactfully with patients, families, coworkers, and community partners. Proficient in Microsoft Office or comparable county systems. Special Requirements Must possess a valid Tennessee driver's license or secure one as of employment date. Must have daily access to an operable automobile and meet County requirements for automobile insurance upon date of employment. Must be available to work some nights. Licensure or eligible for licensure as a registered nurse in Tennessee. Licensure must be complete before the end of probation. Evidence of certification from ANA or a national certifying body within the first year of employment. Must be eligible for or have prescriptive authority from the Primary Care Advisory Board. Must maintain all required licenses, certifications, and training credentials throughout the duration of employment. Physical Requirements Must be able to work in and around several different settings, including jails, homeless shelters, nursing homes, rehabilitation facilities, and any other settings required for screening and investigating TB disease. Work is performed in a fast-paced setting where there is an increased risk of exposure to disease in persons with infectious respiratory diseases. This means exemption from this policy is in effect for the following departments and positions: (1) Sheriff Deputy Patrol Officers, Deputy Jailers and Dispatchers, employed by the Sheriff Department, (2) Correction Officers employed by the Division of Corrections, (3) Firefighters, Paramedics and Dispatchers employed by the Shelby County Fire Department. The residency exemption for public safety/civil service employees does not include appointed positions with the Sheriff's Office, Division of Corrections, or the Fire Department.
