The region offers a lower cost of living than many major metros along with flexible living options across both urban and suburban areas. We are seeking an experienced CT Surgery PA or NP for a 100% operating room, first assist role . No clinic. No rounding. Your time is spent in the OR supporting cardiac cases and maintaining surgical flow in a high-volume environment. This position is well suited for providers who want consistent case volume, a productivity-based compensation model, and the option into expand into congenital surgery . Why This Opportunity 100% OR first assist role with consistent cardiac case volume No clinic or inpatient responsibilities Broad exposure across adult cardiac and thoracic surgery Structured training into transplant (required) and congenital cardiac surgery (optional) 1099 structure with earnings tied directly to cases and call Stable team with strong retention, including providers with 20+ year tenure For providers coming from adult-only programs, this offers a path to expand into congenital cardiac surgery. Compensation Model This is a 1099 independent contractor position with compensation tied directly to output. Paid per case plus call coverage Earnings vary based on volume and participation Top-performing providers are earning 25,000 to 30,000 per month Annual potential exceeds 300,000 for high-volume contributors Additional financial advantages: Ability to operate under an LLC or S corporation for tax planning Deductible expenses such as CME, licensure, insurance, and mileage Access to retirement options such as Solo 401(k) or SEP-IRA No state income tax in Texas Clinical Responsibilities First and second assist across a broad cardiothoracic case mix including adult cardiac, thoracic, endoscopic vein harvesting using the Maquet system, and transplant cases (training provided if needed), while supporting multiple surgeons and maintaining efficient case flow Opportunity to train in congenital cardiac procedures over time (if desired) Requirements 1 to 2+ years of cardiothoracic surgery experience as a PA or NP Strong first assist experience in cardiac surgery EVH experience required, Maquet preferred Board certified Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Eligible for Texas licensure About Hire Caliber Staffing Hire Caliber Staffing specializes in cardiothoracic surgery recruitment for CT surgery programs and groups nationally.
