PRN Summary of Responsibilities:
The Nurse Practitioner is a licensed independent practitioner who is responsible for managing health problems and coordinating health care for the patient in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations and the nursing standards of care ( assessment of health status, diagnosis, development of plan of care and treatment, implementation of treatment plan, and evaluation of patient status)Duties and Responsibilities:
Functions within scope of practice, licensure and training in an outpatient clinic setting Responsible for managing the overall care of their assigned patients Functions independently to perform age-appropriate history and physical for patients of all age groups. Performing periodic evaluations of their patients and referring to specialists as necessary Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient's age-specific needs. Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities Performs routine medical procedures within the scope and training of the provider Creates short term or long term treatment plans based on test findings Counsels patients Monitors the effectiveness of treatments and interventions. Facilitates the patient's transition within and between health care settings, e.g. admitting, transferring, referring to other providers and discharging patients. Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals. Facilitates staff, patient and family decision making by providing educational toolsRequirements:
Job qualifications: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure Current Nurse Practitioner certification in specially area as applicable Current provider card in Basic Life Support (BLS) Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Eligible for hospital privilegesPLANNING/ORGANIZATION
Adheres to policies and infection control standards ofthc organization Organizes time and sets priorities to accomplish workload. Completes documentation of patient care in a timely manner Maintains an organized and clean work area to ensure general safety.PROFESSIONAL GROWTH
Participates in educational experiences designed to maintain competence and licensure. Annually completes all required in-service and training of the organizationPHYSICAL DEMANDS
Requires walking and standing for extended periods. Some bending, stooping, and reaching with or without assistance; Must have sufficient visual acuity (with correction) to read equipment controls, computer terminals, printed materials, and operate other equipment; Must have hearing acuity to hear spoken communications from the general public or co-workers; Must be able to communicate orally and in writing in English; Must be able to exert up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Occasional heavy lifting when moving or supporting patients who may suddenly become weak or helpless.WORK ENVIRONMENT
Working environment is generally favorable; There is exposure to risk in the form of disease, radiation, and disoriented or combative patients. High potential for exposure to blood and body fluids; Personal protective equipment required for at-risk procedures. May be requested to be on standby and work extended shifts in situations, which Administration considers an emergency.
