Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Salt Lake City, UT 84116 $135,335.98 - $162,985.27 a year - Part-time, Full-time, Contract $135,335.98 - $162,985.27 a year - Part-time, Full-time, Contract Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide expert psychiatric care, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health conditions across diverse patient populations. Your energetic approach will help foster a supportive environment where patients feel empowered on their journey toward mental wellness. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in clinical evaluation, medication management, and collaborative care, with a passion for improving mental health outcomes through innovative practices and evidence-based interventions. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, including patient history, mental status examinations, and diagnostic evaluations utilizing EMR systems such as Epic or eClinicalWorks. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans incorporating psychopharmacology, therapy referrals, and behavioral health strategies aligned with patient needs. Manage medication administration, including injections and IV infusions, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and HIPAA regulations. Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate holistic patient care across outpatient, inpatient, or telehealth settings. Provide crisis intervention and triage for patients experiencing acute psychiatric episodes or emergencies within hospital or emergency room environments. Educate patients and families on mental health conditions, treatment options, and wellness strategies to promote engagement and compliance. Document all patient interactions thoroughly in medical records while maintaining compliance with ICD-10 coding standards and CPT coding requirements for billing purposes. Requirements Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner with certification in Psychiatric Mental Health (PMHNP-BC or equivalent). Proven experience in behavioral health settings with familiarity in managing complex psychiatric cases involving comorbidities such as substance use disorders or chronic illnesses. Extensive knowledge of psychopharmacology, including botulinum toxin treatment applications when appropriate. Experience working with diverse populations including children, geriatrics, assisted living residents, or individuals with developmental disabilities. Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth; telehealth experience is highly desirable. Strong understanding of medical documentation standards including
ICD-9/10
coding and CPT procedures related to mental health services. Critical care experience or hospital medicine background preferred; familiarity with acute pain management and emergency psychiatry is a plus. Ability to perform physical examinations when necessary and manage procedures such as suturing or spinal taps in collaboration with medical teams.
