• Newport News Community Services Board (H-NNCSB) is currently seeking an Autonomous Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to fill a unique and impactful role.

This position is responsible for conducting weekend medical histories and physical exams (H&Ps) for individuals admitted for crisis stabilization, as well as providing on-call support for medical needs. As an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care in a collaborative environment that prioritizes safety and integrity. H-NNCSB proudly opened the BJ Roberts Behavioral Health Center in 2025, a state-of-the-art, 20,000+ square foot facility designed to support individuals experiencing acute mental health crises across a range of programs, including Regional Crisis Stabilization. This program is a 16-bed, short-term stabilization unit serving adults (18+) who are experiencing acute mental health or co-occurring substance use crises.

ABOUT THE ROLE

In this impactful role, you will conduct medical histories and physical exams (H&Ps) for patients admitted for crisis stabilization, ensuring each assessment is completed within 24 hours of admission. Your responsibilities include providing on-call medical support during weekends, with compensation set at $120 for on-call coverage and $240 for days you conduct on-site H&Ps.
