Job Description

Adelphi is seeking an Autonomous Nurse Practitioner (NP) to provide examinations and preventive health services at a correctional facility in Virginia. The ideal candidate will be required to assess patient health problems and needs, develop and implement care plans, and maintain medical records.

              • Shift schedule: Mon-Fri, 5x8-hour shifts or 4x10-hour shifts
              Requirements:
              • Active Virginia license
              • DEA certification
              BLS/ACLS
              certification
              Responsibilities:
              • Works independently with minimal supervision to perform physical examinations and preventive health measures.
              • Responds to and initiates care for medical emergencies throughout the facility.
              • Order and perform diagnostic procedures.
              • Prescribe controlled substances and devices in accordance with current regulations.
              • Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.
              • Provides education to patient, healthcare, and correctional staff.
              • Additional duties as assigned by facility.
              Contacts are made with patients in the provision of care and more limited contact with physicians for their consultation.
