Job Description:
PATIENT POPULATION
The patient population served can be all patients, including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and newborn. This also includes services which affect facility staff, physicians, visitors, vendors and the general public.POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse, the Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) performs individually assigned patient care activities based upon established patient care policies and procedures.Specific areas of responsibility include:
monitoring of patient vital signs, providing patient hygiene and comfort measures, assisting with medical procedures, fulfilling nutritional needs, and maintenance of a record of the care provided as assigned. Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours. As a designated disaster service worker you are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act. (Gov't. Code §§ 3100, 3102) Needs to recognize that they have an affirmative duty and responsibility for reporting perceived misconduct, including actual or potential violations of laws, regulations, policies, procedures, or this organization's standards/code of conduct. The employee shall work well under pressure, meet multiple and sometimes competing deadlines; and the incumbent shall at all times demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors.EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE

Must have and maintain current licensure as a Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) in the state of California. Must have and maintain BLS certification or obtain within orientation process, prior to hands-on patient care. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence if required. Ability to speak English, write legibly, and read, understand and follow directions. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as metric system proportions and percentages if required. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills.LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS
An individual must have and maintain current licensure as a Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) in the state of California. Current BLS certification required or obtain within orientation process, prior to hand-on patient care.Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Indicates Essential Function 1- Cooperates in team planning and execution of that plan to accomplish assigned patient care tasks effectively and safely. 2
- Possesses knowledge of growth and development and has an understanding of the range of treatment needed for all patient groups. 3 Transports patient(s) to and from various Hospital and/or Nursing Units with a pleasant attitude, i.e. Med/Surg to X-ray, ER to Med/Surg, discharge patients, etc. 4
- Assists in patient ambulation and positioning using safe body mechanics, i.e. patient from bed to standing position or chair. 5
- Assists with basic care needs, i.
- Obtains, prepares and/or transports specimens to Lab ensuring with proper Lab slips, i.e. S&A, urine, stool. 9
- Monitors and documents patient care as directed.
- Participates in adherence to the Joint Commission "National Patient Safety Goals for Hospitals" as defined by Scope of Practice. 13
- Documentation reflects compliance with established Hospital policies and procedures. 14
- Be in attendance on site and arrive to work on time.
