Day, Swing, and NOC shifts available (24/7 Facility) Job Summary We are looking for resilient, professional Certified Nurse Assistants (CNAs) to provide high-level care at the Department of State Hospitals (DSH) . Unlike a standard nursing home, this role involves working within a secure forensic psychiatric facility. You will assist in the treatment and rehabilitation of individuals with severe mental health disorders while maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment.

Key Responsibilities Therapeutic Care:

Provide direct patient care, including hygiene, grooming, and vitals, while maintaining a "therapeutic boundary" essential for psychiatric settings.

Safety & Observation:

Conduct frequent patient rounds and 1:1 observations for patients on suicide or safety watch.

Behavioral Support:

Assist the nursing and clinical team in managing aggressive or escalating behaviors using DSH-approved crisis intervention techniques.

Documentation:

Record patient behavior and physical health status in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, ensuring compliance with Title 22 and DSH policies.

Escort Duties:

Safely escort patients to internal appointments, meals, and recreational activities within the secure perimeter.

Mandatory Qualifications Certification:

Active California CNA Certification.

Experience:

Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of experience. Psychiatric or Correctional experience is highly preferred.

Security Clearance:

Must be able to pass an intensive background check (Live Scan) and drug screening required by the State of California.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to respond quickly to emergencies and remain on your feet for 8-12 hour shifts.
