50/hour Visalia Post Acute is seeking compassionate and dependable Feeding Assistants to join our team. Feeding Assistants work under the supervision of licensed nursing staff to ensure residents receive safe, respectful, and supportive assistance during meals. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Assist residents with dining and hydration needs during meals Utilize proper feeding techniques learned through state-approved training Encourage resident independence and dignity during mealtimes Observe and report changes in eating patterns or resident condition to nursing staff Record resident meal intake accurately after meals Follow infection control and safe food handling practices Respond appropriately to resident behaviors and needs Maintain a calm, positive, and respectful dining environment Work under the supervision of an RN or LVN/LPN Follow facility safety and emergency procedures, including Heimlich maneuver protocols Program Requirements Feeding Assistants may only assist residents approved by the interdisciplinary team Feeding Assistants cannot assist residents with complicated feeding problems, including: Difficulty swallowing Recurrent lung aspirations Tube or IV feedings Must successfully complete the facility's state-approved 8-hour Feeding Assistant Training Program before independently assisting residents Training topics include: Feeding techniques Hydration assistance Communication and interpersonal skills Resident rights Infection control Safety and emergency procedures Recognizing and reporting changes in resident condition Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred Previous healthcare or caregiving experience preferred Compassionate and patient-centered approach Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to follow instructions and facility policies Physical Demands Frequent standing, walking, reaching, and assisting residents Ability to lift, push, or pull as needed during resident assistance Ability to work in a fast-paced dining environment Work Environment Skilled nursing facility setting Low to moderate noise level Team-oriented and resident-focused environment We are an equal opportunity employer.
